Katy Perry performed for the first time at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Friday night. And virtually none of her biggest fans knew about the show.
That’s because it was a private event open only to general managers of the Hilton hotel chain, about 10,000 of whom are in town for a conference over Labor Day weekend. Some top-level customers were reportedly also invited to the event, though no tickets were sold to the public.
Perry reportedly performed her entire 95-minute “Play” show, though without the elaborate set pieces. Videos on TikTok show her singing without any giant dancing mushrooms.
Allegiant has a capacity of 72,000 for concerts, though most of the stands on Friday appeared empty.
The Hilton connection explained Perry’s opening act. It was a DJ set by Paris Hilton, great-granddaughter of Hilton Hotels founder Conrad Hilton. Hilton performed on a DJ booth at center stage along with singers Sza and Jax, whom she flew to the concert on her private jet, according to her Instagram posts.
“What an iconic night opening for the one an only @KatyPerry at the @AllegiantStadium,” Hilton posted on Instagram. “So epic to be performing at the same venue where the Super Bowl will be held!”
Forbes estimates Hilton’s worth at $300 million, though the family fortune is estimated at around $4.5 billion.
Whatever Perry is worth, it increased after this show. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the superstar singer commands around $2 million for private concerts.
Perry resumes her “Play” residency at Resorts World on Oct. 4. There are 10 dates remaining.
