Australians are feeling the pinch with cost-of-living pressures but we’re not shopping around for better internet and mobile plans and as a result we’re missing out on serious savings.
WhistleOut surveyed 1000 Australian and found many were not making the most of their opportunities to save a few bucks here and there on their phone and internet plans.
In fact, 44 per cent said they would need to save at least $20 a month before considering a switch on their phone plan.
Even saving $10 a month adds up to a decent $120 a year saving.
The survey showed 79 per cent were concerned about the rising cost of living with 77 per cent claiming they are looking for ways to save money.
Yet the research revealed nearly a quarter of Australians (23 per cent) haven’t changed their internet plan for five years.
And when it comes to their phone plans, 40 per cent said they haven’t bothered to check for better value plans.
Remarkably, almost 40 per cent said they would never consider an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) like Boost Mobile, Amysim, ALDI and Belong, as a way to save money.
And 28 per cent said they buy their items, including electronics and smartphones, without waiting for the sales.
There is a lot of value to be had if you do a little bit of homework, especially with mobile phone plans which have become so competitive, customers can not get serious bang for their buck.
One customer who swapped from a $55 a month plan to a $30 plan while retaining the same data allowance is now enjoying a saving of $300 a year.
The savings are out there, Australians just need to look for them.
